The Intense Violet family is aptly named, featuring the highest concentration of violet tones in the entire hair color line, second only to the violet concentrate, which will be discussed later.
These shades are designed for dramatic effects. When used alone, they blend beautifully with the existing warmth in pigmented hair, producing bright, vibrant results.
- The formulation is ideally suited to levels 5 and 6 due to the principles of color theory. To achieve true violet tones in darker hair, the hair must be at least lighter than a level 3 (“medium brown”).
Formulation Training Insights:
-
Applying a level 5 shade to level 2 (“dark brown”) hair with 20 volume developer lifts the hair to between levels 3–4, allowing the violet hue to become visible.
-
Using a level 6 shade on level 3 (“brown”) hair with 20 volume developer lifts the hair to between levels 4–5, again revealing the violet tones.
Pro Tips for the Intense Violet Family VV|.22 :
- Cross-Mixing with Red Families: Combine Intense Violet shades with red RR|.66 families to create stunning red-violet hues with enhanced vibrancy and depth.
- Enhancing Mahogany Hues: Mixing with mahogany M|.5 families can introduce additional violet tones, enriching the final result and adding more dimension.
- Grey Coverage Caution: Avoid using Intense Violet as a stand-alone formula for grey coverage if aiming for a natural, commercially appealing result.
- Using as a Concentrate: Intense Violet shades can be manipulated and used as a concentrate when working with red and mahogany families, offering greater versatility in color formulations.
Understanding color lifting and formulation is essential for achieving the desired vibrant results with the Intense Violet family.
